What we do
The Moroccan Biodiversity and Livelihoods Association (MBLA), based in Marrakesh, is a non-governmental organisation established in 2014.
Through community-based research, we implement integrated in-situ and ex-situ conservation measures and strengthen cultural practices of conservation to protect biodiversity and enhance local livelihoods.
In collaboration with local communities in the High Atlas, we deliver participatory conservation actions such as assessing the richness of local biodiversity resources, terrace cultivation, building and managing local seed banks, herbaria, community plant nurseries and water infrastructure.
We train community members and local cooperatives in sustainable land use practices and the commercialisation of local plants and products to support local livelihoods.
